According to the Ministry of Health, the number of new coronavirus infections last week doubled compared to the previous week, with approximately 8,000 cases registered between June 27 and July 3. Minister Alexander Lafiler said on Monday that the increase would not put pressure on the health system.

Between June 27 and July 3, 7,726 new Covid infections were enrolled and 1,307 were re-infected. 100% of the sequencers showed Omicron infection. A week ago, 3,974 illnesses were reported.

According to Lafiler, Romania, like other European countries, is entering a period of rapid increase in coronavirus cases, which does not pose a problem to the health care system.

The minister said the increase in this infection was infectious and was caused by the BA5 subvariant, which affected both vaccinated and sick people.

Rafila estimated that 10,000 coronavirus infections could occur per day at the beginning of August. This is a pessimistic scenario.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently announced Coronavirus infection increasedd Up to 4.1 million people worldwide, up 18% in the last two weeks.

The United Nations Health Agency wrote in its latest weekly pandemic report that the world’s death toll is about 8,500, the same as last week. Covid-related deaths are increasing in three regions: the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Americas. 10,000 per day in August – Romanian Journal
