Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh police registered as many as 1,137 cases that violated the Model Code of Conduct during the first four phases of the election.
A senior police officer at DGP headquarters said no cases of violence or clashes had been reported during the elections so far.
This was made possible by police advance preparation and the large-scale deployment of the Central Paramilitary Organization.
Meerut is at the top of the district list with 51 voting code violations, followed by 45 in Jhansi.
Among the committees, Lucknow topped the list with 26 cases, followed by Kanpur with 20 cases.
Additional Director (ADG), Law and Order, Prasant Kumar said all 1,137 cases would be properly investigated according to the evidence.
He also attributed peaceful action in Phase 4 to a one-month advance plan that maps all community-sensitive and spend-sensitive members to stay vigilant in advance. ..
“Before the elections, all district police chiefs were briefed several times,” he said.
“We are also nominated in the case of a crime, and all troublemakers with a history of election crimes will either sign a personal bond or be notified and will be placed behind the bar if the threat persists. I guaranteed that, “said ADG.
Special arrangements were made at each stage, and a central armed paramilitary organization was deployed accordingly.
“We also used drones according to the guidelines of the Election Commission,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh police have also launched a “digital surveillance cell” since the campaign was digitized. The cell will continue to function for 24 hours.
The cell had about 31 police officers, led by an additional foreman of the Superintendent (SP), and 15 trained staff were added before the election, bringing the total number of staff to 46.
