12 new cases boost Omicron’s aggregate to 79

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 12 new cases of Omicron on Saturday, boosting the state’s aggregate to 79 cases.

Three of the new cases are travelers arriving from “endangered” countries and nine are from other countries.

So far, 27 cases of Omicron have recovered, according to the Director of Public Health. Authorities were also waiting for a genome sequence report of 21 samples.

Officials said 123 passengers from endangered countries arrived at Begumpet Airport on Saturday, 10 of whom tested positive for Covid.

Since December 1, a total of 12,692 passengers have arrived here from endangered countries.

Meanwhile, the state has seen a surge in Covid cases in the last 24 hours until 5:30 pm on Saturday. According to the Ministry of Health, 317 new infections were detected during this period, and two people were infected with the virus.

A total of 232 cases were recovered from Covid, bringing the total to 6,74,453. Currently, the recovery rate is 98.86%.
