Over the last decade, more and more people are thinking that the wage gap in Norway is too big. Even the wealthiest people in Norway are more skeptical of inequality.

Fifty-eight percent of respondents believe that the wage gap in Norwegian society is too large. According to a survey by Norsk Monitor of Ipsos in 2021 and 2022. This is the highest level measured by Ipsos since the survey began in 1985.

In 1999, that percentage was as high as it is today, but by 2013, when 44% thought the difference was too big, that trend had diminished significantly. Since then, the market share has gradually increased by 14%.

“It has surged considerably over the last decade,” said John Spiriting, senior consultant at Ipsos.

Approximately 3,500 people participate in the biennial survey.
