91% of people living below the poverty line in northern Syria – Middle East Monitor

A team of Syrian coordinators said more than 91 percent of Syrians live below the poverty line in northern Syria.

The team said in a statement released Friday that 3.3 million Syrians had reached the stage of famine while the Syrian economy suffered more than $ 650 billion in losses.

“The number of Syrian refugees in the country has reached 6.9 million, the number of Syrian refugees in exiles has reached 6.6 million, and the number of Syrian refugees living in refugee camps and shelters has reached 1.9 million. We have reached people, “the statement said.

The team explained that while more than 42% of schools in northern Syria were destroyed, the number of children who dropped out reached 2.65 million.

The percentage of destroyed infrastructure and critical projects exceeded 68%.

The team pointed out that the price of basic materials was more than 140 times higher by the end of 2021.

Regarding the medical sector, the team said more than 1.8 million civilians were injured as a result of the military operation, while more than 78% of hospitals and clinics were destroyed or out of service.

According to the report, attacks by the Syrian government and its allies Iran and Russia have killed tens of thousands of civilians and left thousands missing.
