A Kabul police spokesman said the explosion was caused by a hand grenade.

Afghanistan Cricket Commission Chief Executive Officer Naseeb Khan said four spectators were injured in the explosion.

“All players, staff and foreigners are safe,” he said on Twitter, without giving further details.

A UN official at the stadium, Ramiz Arakbarov, condemned the “brutal attack”, according to a UN statement.
