A Kabul police spokesman said the explosion was caused by a hand grenade.
“The match was suspended. After clearing the area, the match was resumed,” spokesman Khalid Zadran told Reuters news agency.
Afghanistan Cricket Commission Chief Executive Officer Naseeb Khan said four spectators were injured in the explosion.
“All players, staff and foreigners are safe,” he said on Twitter, without giving further details.
A UN official at the stadium, Ramiz Arakbarov, condemned the “brutal attack”, according to a UN statement.
“Today’s explosion is an even more harrowing reminder of the horrifying and sudden violence that the people of Afghanistan continue to be subjected to,” said UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Afghanistan Arakbarov in a statement.
