A man in his 20s is in critical condition, three people are hospitalized due to Claire’s accident

The man, in his 20s, is in critical condition and three are being treated in hospital after a serious accident at Cochlear.

The collision occurred at 6:10pm this evening in the town of Drumline, Newmarket, Fergus, Cochlear.

The two-vehicle collision occurred on R458 on the drumline. His three men in one car were taken to Limerick University Hospital. The condition of one man in his 20s is described as critical. Two other men continue to receive treatment.

The driver of the second vehicle, a woman in her 60s, was also taken to Limerick University Hospital, but her injuries were not life-threatening.

R458 is currently closed and will remain closed overnight pending a full technical inspection by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. A local detour is in place.

Gardai of Shannon has called on anyone who may have information about the clash to contact them.

Anyone who witnessed the crash will be asked to come forward and road users with video footage (including drive recorders) will be asked to make this available for police investigation.
