A woman and a teenage girl who were seriously injured and hospitalized after the crash in Carlow

A woman in her 40s and a girl in her teens are seriously injured and treated in a hospital after a crash in Carlow on Wednesday afternoon.

The car-truck collision occurred around 3 pm at the intersection of L1003 and L4038 in Barry Banon.

Both the female and teenage passengers driving the car were taken to and remained at Beaumont Hospital and Mattel Misericordia Hospital in Dublin.

Their injuries are understood to be serious. The truck driver involved in the collision was unharmed.

Gardai has urged witnesses to come forward and also asks road users who have video footage from that location to make it available.

The statement issued by Garda said: “Gardi and paramedics attended the scene of a serious road accident in Barry Bannon, Carlow, on Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2022.

“The collision between two vehicles involving a car and a truck occurred around 3 pm at the intersection of L1003 and L4038.

“Car drivers (female, 40s) and passengers (female youth, teens) were seriously injured and taken to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital and Mattel Misericordia Hospital. The truck driver was unharmed. ..

“Currently, the roads are closed and local detours are in place. Technical investigations of the site are underway.

“Galdai is calling on people who may have witnessed this collision to be contacted. Traveling road users with camera footage (including dash cams) will be able to make it available to Gardai. You will be asked to.
