Abaco Pastor Urges Government to Do Its Best to Restore Hurricane-Ravaged Islands – Eye Witness News

Nassau, Bahamas — Retiring Reverend Edbert Tinker of the Abaco Christian Council (ACC) yesterday called on the government to do all it can to help rebuild hurricane-ravaged Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands.

While delivering a sermon at a service marking the third anniversary of Hurricane Dorian’s passing, Tinker reflected on what he called “dark days” in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.

he said: I remember the hurricane when his wife and son were at home. When the breeze hit the back of our house, we thought someone had broken in.

Pastor Tinker remembered looking out of his car that the entire windshield was gone.

“Lord, what is this?” he said. Then the manhole cover went up and down again. I saw a tornado go through the house, through the ceiling, kitchen, hallway, carrying all the plywood on that side. “

Pastor Tinker recalled losing the church in a huge storm, describing it as “the hardest hit.” He also lost a store full of back-to-school supplies.

“We invested in the back-to-school term. We were left with nothing but hope and faith, he saved our lives,” said Pastor Tinker.

He advised the MPs present to “remember where you came from.”

He added: Let’s face this future with optimism. Overcome fear with faith. Overcome hate with love. “
