Abubakar saves Cameroon in 3-3 draw with Serbia at World Cup

Substitute Vincent Abubakar scored one goal and produced another as Cameroon drew 3-3 from a 3-1 lead to Serbia in Monday’s World Cup.

He lobbed goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic in the 64th minute and set up striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting two minutes later.

The thrilling draw was the first game in Qatar’s World Cup where both teams gave up their lead.

However, the results did not suit either side.

They have one point and either Brazil or Switzerland could qualify with a win if they meet later on Monday.

Cameroon took the lead with a tap-in from center defender Jean-Charles Castellet in the 29th minute, but conceded twice in quick succession.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Strahinja Pavlovich scored with a header, two minutes later midfielder Sergey Milinkovic Savich struck from 20 meters.

Striker Alexander Mitrović won 3-1 in the 53rd round at Al Janoub Stadium.

Cameroon coach Rigoberto Song has ruled goalkeeper André Onana out of the game. It was not immediately clear why Onana was excluded amid reports that it was on disciplinary grounds. Abubakar saves Cameroon in 3-3 draw with Serbia at World Cup
