Announcement of the winning team of the 1st OXAGON Hackathon

Riyadh — The judges of the first OXAGON Hackathon, held in partnership with the Ministry of Education, shortlisted Blindline’s solution (a team from Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University) to learn Braille using AI.

3D & IOT Integrated Construction System, a team from Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University, proposed using drones to monitor construction stages. And Savetro’s idea of ​​converting a petrol car to an electric car (a team at King Abdulaziz University) was his two other teams to complete the top three winning innovations.

Backed by local accelerator Blossom, a three-day sprint was held in Riyadh from October 6-8 to foster collaboration and inclusiveness across the Kingdom’s burgeoning startup community. The jury of five judges was made up of his top specialists and leaders from the Ministry of Education, OXAGON and Blossom.

61 teams were shortlisted for the competitive program with submissions developed around the following industries: Innovations to meet water scarcity challenges. Renewable energy solutions such as green hydrogen and e-fuels.

“We have seen widespread interest from researchers, university students, SMEs and others to develop their own solutions with over 600 applications,” commented Lisa Norcross, Director of Industrial Innovation – OXAGON. doing.

“It was no easy task narrowing down the shortlist of submissions to the final three. In the end, the three winning teams best achieved the criteria set,” she added.

Home to NEOM’s advanced and clean industry, OXAGON launched the hackathon as one of several initiatives designed to empower local talent and create new technologies.

This initiative will enable OXAGON to support NEOM’s broader ambition to tackle humanity’s most pressing challenges and create a clean industry.

The three winning teams will receive priority participation in the OXAGON Accelerator Program at the end of the year, providing global experts, specialist resources, and ideas to companies ready for investors. —SG
