APG’s National Contingent Returns to a Hero’s Welcome

Sepang, August 7 – The national team for the 11th ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Solo, Indonesia, arrived today at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and was welcomed by heroes.

After 2pm Malaysia Airlines flight MH8753 landed safely at KLIA at 4:30pm, the 70-strong contingent was followed by Datuk Jana Sathiran Muniayan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Suhardi Alias, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Council. We were greeted.

Shot putter Muhammad Ziyad Zorkefri, powerlifter Brian Junenesy Gustin and Brenda Anelia Larry are the president of the Malaysian Paralympic Council Datuk Seri Megat D. Azam Arifinchef was among those welcomed into the family.

Muhammad Ziyad won the first gold medal in the men’s shot put F20 event, and Brenda Anelia won gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB4 (disability).

The national team finished fourth overall, winning 36 gold, 20 silver and 14 bronze medals in the competition, which was held from 30 July to 6 August. — Bernama APG’s National Contingent Returns to a Hero’s Welcome
