Areas requiring an emergency drought-English

(ANSA)-Rome, June 21-The Italian region declares a drought emergency in the northern part of the country and calls on the government to seek the help of civil protection departments across the country, the governor said on Tuesday. Said at the regional conference.

The water level of the Po River has dropped by three-quarters as the valley withstands the worst drought in 70 years.

Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna all say they want a state of emergency.

Further south, the water levels of the Arno, Aniene and Tiber rivers have been halved, and Lazio is seeking a drought disaster.

The Governor will meet with government representatives later on Tuesday and on Wednesday with Fabrizio Crcio, the head of the Civil Protection Department. (ANSA).
