Armed and dangerous suspect arrested in Joshua Tree after police pursuit
Police arrested Jonathan Rodriguez, 20, on Saturday afternoon after he fired shots at officers during a pursuit in Joshua Tree.
Around 3:30 a.m., officers pursued an armed suspect who fled from a vehicle in the 60800 block of Mountain View Trail.
The Morongo Basin Sheriff's Office said Rodriguez fired multiple shots during the pursuit. No officers were injured.
After Rodriguez fled, police issued a press release advising area residents to lock their doors and windows and remain indoors while authorities continued to search for the suspect.
Police found Rodriguez inside a residence on Pueblo Trail in Joshua Tree at approximately 2:22 p.m. Police took Rodriguez into custody without incident.
“We would like to thank the residents and visitors of Joshua Tree for their patience and cooperation with information throughout this investigation,” police said in a press release.
