Avissawella records 103mm of precipitation, showers continue

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Bureau of Meteorology reported the highest rainfall reported from the Avissawella area on Wednesday (12th) with 103.0mm of rainfall.

Therefore, general showers conditions are expected over the next 24 hours (SW quarter) due to low-level atmospheric disturbances near the island.

In addition, occasional showers and thunderstorms will occur in the West, Northwest, Central, Sabaragamuwa Province, Galle and Matara districts. Over 100mm of rain is expected in some areas.

Elsewhere on the island, fairly strong showers of over 75 mm are expected.

In order to minimize the damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning strikes during thunderstorms, the general public is also requested to take sufficient precautions.
