Pirate Party Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development Minister Ivan Bartoš told news site Novinky.cz on Tuesday. The candidate will replace the mayor and the founding member of the Independence Party, Petr Gazdik. Gazdík chose to resign at the end of June to meet with businessman Michal Redl, who was charged with corruption after police cracked down on a ring suspected of being organized crime in Prague.
Bartosh said the new Minister of Education will be first proposed by the mayor and independents who are currently in that position. Alternatively, the Pirate Party may consider appointing either Ostrava’s Deputy Mayor Andrea Hoffmanova or analyst Martin Olobek.
