Bekir Bozdag becomes Turkiye’s new Minister of Justice

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed AK party veteran Bekirbozdag as the new Minister of Justice after his predecessor resigned.

Turkey has appointed Bekir Bozdag as the new Minister of Justice after his predecessor Abdulaziz Gull resigned. Official Gazette..

Gull, who has been running the ministry since 2017, was accepted by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his release from his post early Saturday.

Bekir Bozdag, a veteran of the AK Party, is currently heading the Constitutional Committee of the Turkish Parliament.

Bozdag, a lawyer and politician, holds a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Theology and a master’s degree from the Institute of Social Sciences, Faculty of Religious History, University of Uldag.

He also holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Selcuk University.

Bozdag was Deputy Prime Minister in Government 61, Minister of Justice in Governments 61, 62, 64 and 65, and Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson in Government 65.

He was also elected chairman of the Constitutional Commission during the 27th legislative session.
