Binda receives €300,000 for wrongful detention in Macchi case – Japanese

(ANSA) – ROME, OCTOBER 12 – Stefano Binda, a 54-year-old Italian man, has been charged with wrongful detention on Wednesday after he was acquitted in the murder of 21-year-old student Lydia Macchi in the woods last year. received €303,000 as January 1987, near Varese.
The Milan Court of Appeal handed down the verdict.
Binda served three and a half years in prison from 2016 to 2019 in various trials related to the case.
He will be fully cleared in January 2021.
Macchi’s former high school friend, Binda, who now works as a translator, sought over €350,000 in compensation.
He always claimed his innocence.
