Broadband delivery in the EU region needs to be accelerated-English

(ANSA)-Rome, June 24-According to the 2nd Broadband Platform Conference, there is a need to promote a technological infrastructure that guarantees widespread access to broadband, including rural areas and less populated areas.

The meeting brought together members of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), experts from the Commission and representatives of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Council last year.

This discussion was an opportunity to exchange information on the latest developments in major European initiatives in this area and to discuss important challenges in empirically measuring the progress of digitalization.

Martin Gauk, a statistical expert at ESPON, a European collaboration program specializing in regional policy analysis, presented different approaches to collecting data to estimate the degree of digitization of cities and regions.

Participants also reviewed the good practices included in the Connectivity Toolbox and a review of the Broadband Cost Reduction Directive. (ANSA).
