Cal Fire has evacuated about 4,000 people due to the Boyles Fire in Clear Lake.

A fire in Lake County on Sunday forced about 4,000 people to evacuate their homes.

Cal Fire said the fire involved about 30 structures, covered 75 acres and was 10% contained by late Sunday afternoon.

Officials also report a vegetation fire in Clear Lake near Dam Road and Boyles Avenue. The fire is being called the Boyles Fire because of where it started.

Evacuations ordered in Clear Lake According to Cal Fire, evacuations have been issued “for areas within Highway 53 on the west, Dam Road on the south, Boyles Avenue on the east, and 32nd Street on the north.”

Cal Fire is assisting the Lake County Fire Protection District on the matter, and is sending air and ground resources to fight the blaze.

The initial fire was first reported around 2:45 p.m. Sunday through Cal Fire's X account as “approximately 3 acres, burning at a moderate rate in brush, endangering structures.”
