Car road of a corpse found outside the city hall of Mexico

Fast news

A vehicle full of bodies found outside the city hall of Zacatecas, a northern state of Mexico, was involved in a lawn war between rival drug cartels, officials said.

Mexican officials arrested two suspects after a 10-filled SUV was left outside the office of the Governor of the State of Mexico on a public square illuminated by Christmas trees and holiday decorations.

David Monreal, Governor of Zacatecas, said in a video shot at the Plaza on Thursday that the car contained the bodies of people with obvious signs of beatings and bruises.

“They began to leave them here in front of the palace,” he said, referring to his office in a centuries-old building on Plaza de Armas, the capital of the state, also known as Zacatecas.

A Zacatecas public security agency said in a statement that it found a car called the Mazda SUV after government officials noticed that a suspicious car was driving in the area.

The Federal Ministry of Security said there were 10 bodies inside.

“Cursed inheritance”

Monreal said security is a major challenge for Zacatecas and will reduce violence.

“We will gradually regain peace. What we received was a cursed heritage,” he said.

In a tweet later that day, Monreal said two suspects “related to the incident” had been arrested.

Zacatecas has become one of the most violent regions in the country due to the turf war between rival gangs.

According to official data, the state recorded 1,050 murders in 2021, about 260 more than in 2020.
