Ljubljana – The Catholic Church and Muslim community this week concluded a two-year cooperation project that saw interfaith dialogue and cooperation between priests and imams. The two leaders agreed to continue cooperation in order to foster good dialogue.
The Islamic Community said in a press release that the project’s completion will be marked by an event at the Muslim Cultural Center in Ljubljana.
Mari Jože Osredkar of the Ljubljana Theological Faculty expressed in his speech the belief that the project will contribute to a better understanding between Muslims and Catholics in Slovenia, especially at the local level.
He stressed that this is a nascent process and that cooperation at the local level rests with priests and imams.
Meanwhile, Mufti Navzet Polić stressed the need for mutual respect and said the Muslim community is on good terms with the Catholic Church and all other religious communities.
As an example of excellent cooperation, he cited the support of the Catholic Church in the construction of the Ljubljana Mosque.
