(ANSA)-Rome, June 20-Idol chatter destroys the Catholic Church, Pope Francis told the Bishops of Middle Easter in a Vatican audience on Monday.

The Pope described chatter and gossip as eating up the structure of the church “like a woodworm.”

“Watch out for chatting behind people,” he said.

“If someone has something to say to others, be charitable, but let his face say it to his face.

“It’s a woodworm that scandals loyal people and spits them out facing each other.” (ANSA).
