Beijing, (Sputnik)-China has advocated reconciliation and negotiations and will remain firmly on the “right side of history” on the Ukraine issue, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Thursday.
The Wang met with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniyam Jaishankar during the G20 Ministerial Meeting in Bali, Indonesia.
“China opposes the use of Ukraine’s crisis to fuel the world’s Cold War ideology and build a new Cold War. When the world faces serious challenges, it needs unity, not fragmentation. “The Wang added in a meeting that China would continue to maintain a solid position” on the right side of history, on the side of those who insist on reconciliation and negotiations. “
Mr Wang also added that China opposes any attempt to compare the crisis in Ukraine with the problem in Taiwan and firmly defends its core interests.
Taiwan alienated Beijing after becoming the home of the Kuomintang (Kuomintang), which was defeated by the Communist Party in the 1949 civil war. Mainland China and the island resumed informal contact with business in the late 1980s. Beijing opposes official contact between foreign countries and Taiwan and believes that China’s sovereignty over the island is indisputable.
