COVID-19: Incidence, contagion number.Significantly Up – English

(ANSA) – Rome, 7 October – The number of COVID-19 Rt infections in Italy increased to 1.18 in the period from 14 to 27 September, according to the Ministry of Health and Institute for Advanced Health (ISS) weekly ‘s coronavirus surveillance report was released on Friday. Scored 1 in last week’s report.
An Rt greater than 1 indicates that the epidemic is in the expanding stage.
The incidence has risen to 441 cases per 100,000 inhabitants from 325 in last week’s report.
The number of territories/autonomous states with incidence >600 increased from 2 to 7.
Abruzzo (603.8), Friuli Venezia Giulia (710), Bolzano (863.8), Trento (825.2), Piedmont (654.7), Umbria (680.6), Veneto (728.9).
The report said the pressure the coronavirus is putting on Italian hospitals has also increased.
COVID patients accounted for 1.8% of Italian intensive care unit beds on 6 October, up from 1.4% on 29 September.
The proportion of regular wards occupied by coronavirus patients rose to 8.2% from 6% on September 22.
Bolzano (24.6%), Umbria (21.6%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (16.9%), Valle (24.6%) d’Aosta (16,4%).
Six regions are currently classified as high risk with multiple resilience alerts: Abruzzo, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Marche, Puglia and Veneto.
One region in Tuscany is described as unclassifiable and with a status equivalent to high risk.
The remaining 14 regions are moderate risk.
Gianni Reza, the health ministry’s head of prevention, said the pace of the virus’s circulation has increased as the Rt number is above 1.
