COVID: 21,817 new cases, over 90 victims – Japanese

(ANSA) – ROME, Aug 31 – Italy had 21,817 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, with a further 90 infected with the virus, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

This compares with 31,088 new cases and more than 98 deaths on Tuesday.

There were about 167,495 more tests, compared to 208,996 on Tuesday.

The positive rate has dropped from 14.9% to 13%.

Severe cases decreased from 13 to 213 and hospitalizations decreased from 336 to 5,091.

There are now 645,933 positives, down 14,308 on Tuesday.

Recoveries and discharges are 21,046,229 (+36,032).

Since the pandemic began, there have been 21,867,757 cases and 175,595 deaths. (ANSA).
