Covid numbers again due to increase in Czech Republic

The number of cases of Covid-19 confirmed in the Czech Republic has increased for the third straight week, and the infection rate is accelerating. About 3,300 new Covid cases were recorded last week, an increase of about 1,100 from the previous week. The 7-day case incidence is currently 31 per 100,000, up from 20 per 100,000 a week ago.

About 120 people were hospitalized for coronavirus on Thursday, but 112 a week ago.

The director of the Institute for Health Information Statistics said the rise was due to the relatively rapid spread of the BA.5 mutant of Omicron.
