Croatian player for 11 consecutive years in the Champions League final

Real Madrid’s brilliant victory against Manchester City last night means Croatia will be in the UEFA Champions League final for the 11th consecutive year.

Luka Modric will be competing in the 5th Champions League final in Paris on May 28, when Real Madrid will face Liverpool. Modric also chases his fifth title.

Croatia’s current assistant coach, Ivica Olić, has begun a phenomenal run for the Croats in the 2012 Champions League final.

2017 – Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic (Real Madrid), Mario Mandzukic (Juventus)

2018 – Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic (Real Madrid), Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

2019 – Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

2020 – Ivan Perisic (Bayern Munich)

2021 – Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea)

Croatian players have also won the title for the past nine years in a row.

Mario Mandzukic scored in the final against Borussia Dortmund to help Bayern Munich win the title in 2013.

Next season, Luka Modric won the first Champions League in Real Madrid, and next season Ivan Rakitić won in Barcelona. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Modric and Kovacic won the trophy at Real Madrid. Dejan Lovren won Liverpool in 2019, Ivan Perisic won the Bayern trophy in 2020, and Kovacic won last season at Chelsea.
