The current Czech government is working to tackle the conflict between corruption and interests more effectively, but high-altitude corruption cases, especially the slowness of investigations, have raised concerns, the European Commission said. It states in the new rule of law report.
The Commission also criticized some of the comments made by the country’s ombudsman on the lack of transparency in Czech media ownership, lack of support for NGOs, and the minority.
Meanwhile, the Commission praised the country’s ongoing reform of the judicial system with the aim of strengthening the independence of judges and state prosecutors.
