The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed a warning from Russia that the Czech Republic does not have the right to provide weapons of Soviet origin to a third country without its consent. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky said the argument was meaningless because the old purchase contract did not have a provision prohibiting the re-export of military equipment. He said the Czech Republic would not respond to diplomatic documents.
Russia is trying to stop military aid to Ukraine and has warned the United States and other Western nations that the supply of weapons to Ukraine could foster conflict and have “unpredictable consequences.”
