Dangerous chase in Southern California reaches speeds of 150 mph

Two men were taken into custody after a high-speed chase that reached speeds of up to 150 mph in Long Beach.

It is unclear when the pursuit began, but two suspects reportedly fled an illegal street occupation scene in East Los Angeles that police had been clearing when the chase began.

Sky 5 caught up with the pursuit vehicle shortly after the driver moved from the 710 onto the northbound 605 Freeway.

When a CHP patrol vehicle was deployed and attempted to catch up with the vehicle, the driver was recorded traveling at speeds of up to 150 mph, splitting lanes and turning off his vehicle's headlights to avoid detection by the CHP's air unit.

The suspect driver eventually continued on the 22 Freeway into Long Beach, where he turned onto East 7 Freeway.Number He ran down the street, ignored the traffic lights and turned onto Havana Street.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers appeared to lose sight of the suspect, but shortly thereafter, units searching for the suspect approached a vehicle parked under a tree on the side of the road.

Police officers quickly surrounded the car with their guns drawn.

The driver quickly complied, holding up his hands and opening the car door in surrender, followed a moment later by his passenger.

After Sky 5 left the scene, both men were arrested and placed in the back of a California Highway Patrol vehicle.
