Delhi reports 2,716 new COVID cases. Best day spike since May

New Delhi: Delhi has reported 2,716 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours and witnessed the highest one-day spike since May 2021.

According to a breaking news issued by the Department of Health on Saturday, the positive rate for the day reached 3.64 percent. A total of 74,622 samples have been tested over the last 24 hours, starting at 73,590 on Friday.

As a result, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the capital has reached 14,50,927.

Over the last 24 hours, 765 people have recovered from the infection, bringing the total recovery in the state to 14,19,459.

One death has been recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll in Delhi to 25,108.

Currently, there are 6,360 active COVID-19 cases in the capital. Of these, 3,248 are currently quarantined at home.

Over the last 24 hours, 1,24,148 COVID-19 vaccinations have been given, of which 52,767 received the first vaccination and 71,381 received the second vaccination.

To date, a total of 2,63,64,756 vaccinations have been given in the capital. Of these, 1,52,22,436 received the first vaccination and 1,11,42,320 received the second vaccination.

Delhi witnessed a surge in fresh coronavirus infections last week, following the emergence of an omicron variant of the coronavirus. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are currently 351 cases of Omicron in the national capital.
