Droughts are more frequent in Hungary

Droughts are affecting much of Hungary, the National Meteorological Agency said in a Facebook post on Saturday, saying that droughts will be more frequent, summers will be hotter, and heat waves will be more intense.

According to the service, it was also dry in Hungary last year, and the drought continued in 2022. The situation is even worse in the central part of the Great Plains and in the eastern part of the Tisza River.

Occasional droughts are part of Hungary’s climate, but “in recent decades summers have become significantly hotter and heat waves have become more frequent and more concentrated …” said the Meteorological Department.
