Easter Sunday terrorist attack suspect hacked to death – The Island

The 38-year-old Easter Sunday terrorist attack suspect was hacked to death in Matakriya yesterday morning (28).

According to police, the victim, Mohamed Badruddin Mohamed Harnas, lived on Safiya Avenue in Matakriya.

He was a suspect in the Easter Sunday terrorist attack and had been released on bail.

The suspect was rushed to the National Hospital in Colombo after he was attacked by three individuals who arrived by car around 10am.

Witnesses said two men attacked the man while the car engine was still running. The attackers then fled in the same vehicle.

Harnas was confirmed dead on admission.

Further investigation is currently underway in this regard.

The victim’s family said Harnas was taken into custody after the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, but was later released because there was no evidence that he was involved in terrorist activities.
