EC issues notice to Samajwadi Party for violating COVID guidelines

Lucknow: On Saturday, the Election Commission notified the Samajwadi Party of violating the COVID-19 protocol at the party office in Lucknow’s Bikramadiz Amag.

Following the rise in COVID cases, the EC, in that order, banned political parties from holding roadshows, rallies, and Padayatras until January 15.

At a rally on Friday at the Samajwadi Party’s office compound, the Chief Election Commissioner was asked to report on this issue after several media houses reported violations of the COVID-19 guidelines to the Commission. He said that “by organizing a rally, he violated the existing COVID-19 protocol” on the premises of the Samajwadi Party, which the party said was a “virtual rally.”
