EU wants to phase out Russian oil in the next 6 months

The European Commission hopes to phase out Russian oil in the next six months.

On Wednesday, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented a sixth sanctions package against Russia.

In it, the Commission proposes to phase out crude oil imports from Russia over the next six months and phase out refined oils by the end of 2022.

“To be clear, this is not an easy task. Some member states are heavily dependent on Russian oil,” he said.
