The European Parliament, meeting at its plenary session in Strasbourg, declared Russia a state sponsor of terrorism, according to a statement sent Wednesday.

The MEP adopted a resolution relating to the latest developments in Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine by 494 votes in favor, 58 against and 44 abstentions. The document states that intentional attacks and atrocities against Ukrainian civilians, destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of international and humanitarian law by the Russian military and its representatives constitute acts of terrorism and war crimes.
