According to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, high-speed offshore service crafts operating in the United Kingdom are currently allowed to transport up to 60 workers.

According to the MCA, this change will allow vessels transporting people working at offshore wind farms to carry more workers while meeting safety standards.

The legislative amendment followed discussions between the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the industry looking at ways to solve the problem of logistical support for transport workers.

Vessels that transport workers to offshore wind farms were previously not legally permitted to carry more than 12 people, regardless of the size of the vessel.

According to the MCA, the new regulations provide a solution to the growing logistical problems in the operation and maintenance of these wind farms, which are further evolving from the coast.

According to the MCA, after six weeks of talks at the end of the summer, offshore wind farm workers will need to be in good physical condition and undergo professional marine safety and survival training with regular passengers. Will be in a different category.

Maritime Minister Robert Coates said:

“We are pleased to be able to reduce bureaucracy while maintaining the highest safety standards to support the offshore wind industry.”

Gwilym Stone, Assistant Director of Ship Standards, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, said:

“Currently, there are about 46 vessels of this type operating in the waters of the United Kingdom. The new law is for offshore wind to carry workers to and from wind farms, depending on the capabilities of individual vessels. It provides legal clarity to the industry, which makes the UK consistent with many other countries that already have similar regulations in place. “
