In the coming days, Finland will ban the entry of Russians traveling on tourist visas issued by Schengen countries, according to Foreign Minister Pekka Haavist. He said the government has already agreed to the decision, which will be made official in the coming days.
Finland also plans to cancel multiple-entry visas issued by the country’s consulate at the border if the visa holder intends to enter the country for tourism purposes. Entry is only permitted for family-related situations, study or work, freight transport, and humanitarian purposes.
Haavisto pointed out that Finland has tightened visa requirements for Russians who own real estate. In particular, it closed a loophole that allowed multiple people to enter the country by registering for one property.
Since September 19, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have closed entry for Russians traveling on Schengen tourist visas.
