First lift of oil completed in

Project partner OKEA said the first oil withdrawal from Repsol’s Yme field in the North Sea off Norway was completed on Wednesday.

“A total of 100,000 barrels will be raised, of which 15,000 barrels will be allocated to OKEA. Further commissioning of the process system and launch of additional wells will continue over the next few weeks, with production launches over the next few months. It will be possible. The process plant has been tuned and optimized, “says OKEA.

After years of delay, the offshore field resumed oil production in October 2021.

Yme is a field in the southeastern part of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, 130 km northeast of the Ula field, at depths of 77-93 meters.

This oil field was discovered in 1987. The operator at the time was Statoil (now Equinor), which began production in 1996 and ended production in April 2001. During this period, the oil fields produced 50.3 million barrels of oil.

A few years later, Talisman of Canada attempted to redevelop the field using a mobile offshore production unit supplied by SBM Offshore. However, the project was abandoned after Talisman discovered a structural integrity issue with the platform. And in 2013, it was decided to remove and dispose of the platform.

Repsol of Spain took over the operation of the problematic field after taking over Talisman in 2015. SBM’s Yme MOPUstor platform was removed by the Pioneer Spirit ship in 2016.

In March 2018, Norwegian authorities used Maersk Drilling’s Maersk Inspirer jack-up drilling and production platform for five years, with the goal of bringing the field online in 2020, with Repsol’s modified development for the redevelopment of Yme. And approved the operation plan. Year extension option. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a further delay. The first oil date spilled in 2021.

In a statement on Monday, October 25, Repsol confirmed that the first oil was achieved from the YME field.

Repsol Norge is a Yme field operator with a 55% stake. Yme licensed partners are Lotos Exploration and Production Norge AS (20% work right), KUFPEC Norway ASA (10% work right), and OKEA ASA (15% work right). Yme Map-Credits: OKEA
