Former player and coach Edward Aquilina dies



Former soccer player and coach Edward Aquilina dies at the age of 75.

Aquilina had a blister-like career at Sliema Wanderers, winning six league titles and three FA tournaments before moving to Hibernians to win more titles.

For Malta, he has been a regular starter since his first international match against Austria in 1959. Played 12 times in National Jersey.

After that, Aquilina had a brilliant career as a coach, leading Valletta FC to two league titles in the late 1990s and Sliema to three league titles between 2002 and 2005.

Aquilina later became a football analyst on television. For some time he was also a Malta Independent Analyst.
