Governor General Mary Simon of Canada receives an official welcoming ceremony today at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, where President Sauli Niinisto will host a visit.

Following the ceremony, President Niinisto and Canada’s first Indigenous Governor-General, Ms. Simon, will discuss topics ranging from bilateral relations between Finland and Canada to talks on security and security. Climate change and Arctic cooperation.

During his visit, Governor Simon will also meet Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin and the first Vice-President of the Finnish Parliament, Antti Rinne.

President Niinisto and Governor Simon will travel to Rovaniemi in northern Finland on Thursday to participate in a panel discussion on the impact of climate change in the Arctic.
