Brazilian soccer legend Pele has been released from a hospital in São Paulo to spend Christmas with his family.

“Edson Arantes de Nasimento (Pele) was discharged from Israel’s Albert Einstein on Thursday,” a Brazilian hospital said in a statement.

He added that the 81-year-old remained “stable” and would continue to receive treatment for colon tumors that began in September.

Pele was previously hospitalized on December 8th.

“Photos of smiles aren’t in vain. As promised, spend Christmas with your family. Go home. Thank you for your kind message,” a former Brazilian star told Instagram.

Legendary soccer player Pele helped Brazil win the FIFA World Cup three times in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

He still has the most World Cup wins as a player.
