The tender process for a megayacht marina to be built on Corfu has attracted all major groups active in marina management in Greece.
Four bidder groups have expressed interest in the marina and the State Asset Management Fund TAIPED has decided to allow all four bid groups to submit binding bids.
The four bidders are: A partnership between construction companies Avax and Aktor. D Marinas Hellas, a subsidiary of US investment fund CVC Capital. Lambda Marinas, a subsidiary of Lambda Development. Kathimerini understands that TEKAL is a construction company that specializes in port infrastructure, but also services marinas.
Apart from TEKAL, other bidders actually own or manage marinas.
The plan will develop a small boat repair facility currently located at the western end of Corfu Port, next to the cruise ship terminal.
The planned marina can accommodate about 100 vessels of 30 to 140 meters in length. In addition to the installation of marina supports, hotels, shopping centers and food and beverage outlets are also planned.
The winning bidder will sign a 40-year contract.
Given the number of yachts plying the Adriatic Sea and the abundance of popular destinations nearby, the business prospects are considered excellent.
