Greece rejects EU Commission proposal to reduce gas consumption by 15%

After Spain again Greece and Portugal have rejected the Commission’s proposal to reduce natural gas consumption by 15%, primarily to support Germany.

Government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou told reporters at noon Thursday:

“The Greek government, in principle, disagrees with the Commission’s proposal to reduce natural gas consumption by 15%.”

The Minister of Energy of Spain is clearly aiming for strict austerity policies in Berlin and Merkel from 2010 to 2020.
