Greenslade appointed ambassador to South Africa

The Bahamas High Commissioner for the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Ellison Greenslade, said he will serve as the Bahamas’ ambassador to South Africa and nine other countries.

According to video of the event, Greenslade made the announcement at a farewell dinner with staff from the High Commission in London.

“In late October, I went to the Bahamas for Dip Week. While there, I signed a new contract to serve as ambassador to South Africa and nine African countries,” he said.

“These countries include Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Eswatini, Burundi and Sudan.

“My contract will come into effect on December 1, 2022.

“The Bahamas government is optimistic about the future of the African continent and Kim[his wife]and I am happy to be a part of this vision.”

Former Police Commissioner Greenslade was appointed High Commissioner by the previous administration in 2017.

He told the staff that he made great memories in London.

“We have been engaged in life-changing work and have walked alongside the Queen and the King.

“We have traveled to places we could never have imagined.”
