Helsinki International Ballet Competition Starts Next Week

Organize now The Helsinki International Ballet Competition is the ninth opportunity for young and talented dancers to introduce themselves to international judges and the general public. The performance will take place at the Finnish National Opera Ballet for seven days from May 31st to June 6th, 2022.

Participants will compete in either the junior category (15-19 years old) or the senior category (20-25 years old) to perform both classical ballet and contemporary dance. Eight of the accepted participants are Finnish.Those in the junior category Triezel (Finnish National Opera and Ballet School), Matrina Lundellin (Helsinki Dance Institute), Anni Martinsen (Finnish National Opera and Ballet School), Pinja Risanen (Bagano Ballet Academy) Edith Stenvall (The Finnish National Ballet Youth Group).Those in the senior category Aino Ruhivara (Kiero Dance Company), Viola Länsivuori (Finnish National Ballet) Heidi Salminen (Finnish National Ballet).

The Helsinki International Ballet Competition is well known and highly regarded.

The contest has two main awards, the Jane Elkko Grand Prix and the Doris Reine Award. In addition, 1st to 3rd place prizes will be awarded in both categories. Prizes include cash, but can also help the winner’s career turning points and professional development.

Performances during competition week

The order of participants’ performances will be decided by lottery on Sunday evening, May 29th and will be posted on IBC Helsinki. Website Immediately after that.
