The skistar who runs the Hemsedal Ski Center was convicted of gross negligence after a fatal accident. The company has to pay a fine of SEK 5.4 million and compensation.
A woman died after driving to a transformer station while skiing at Tottenloipa in March 2019.
SkiStar did not accept a fine of SEK 5 million and the proceedings were brought to court. Currently, the majority of the Buskerud District Court has come to the conclusion that the company has acted in gross negligence, Hallingdølen writes. In addition to the fine, SkiStars must also pay 382,250 kroner for compensation and compensation.
The court believes that the woman was not careless and was too less guarded at the location of the accident. A minority in court, one of the two co-judges, believes there was no negligence.
The company’s board of directors must decide whether to appeal the decision.
