The offshore substation on the Hollandse Kust (zuid) Alpha platform was successfully installed on Sunday in the North Sea jacket, about 20 km from the Hague coast. The substation is one of the two top surfaces of the Hollandse Kust (zuid) offshore grid, connecting the offshore wind farm area of the same name to the Dutch onshore high-voltage grid.
Marco Kuijpers, TenneT’s Director of Large Offshore Projects, said: Offshore wind farm to Marsvracte with a capacity of 700 MW. Wind energy also plays an important role in the energy transition in industry, and we are proud that TenneT can contribute to such a sustainable future. “
From Dubai to the North Sea For the past year, contractor Petrofac has been working on the production of two high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transformer stations, Alpha and Beta, at the Dry Dock World Manufacturing Yard in Dubai. In mid-November, heavyweight transportation and lifting specialist Mammoet was responsible for weighing and loading the 3,830-ton Alpha top-top transport vessel Tai An Kou. From Dubai, Tai An Kou set sail for Alexia Haven in Marsvracte in a month, arriving on December 21st.
Installed by offshore company Allseas At Alexiahaven, the upper surface of the Alpha was loaded from a transport vessel to a multipurpose platform installation and removal vessel, the Pioneering Spirit of offshore company Allseas, and sailed to the North Sea installation site. After completing the preparatory work, Pioneer Spirit accurately placed the alpha top surface of the substructure, also known as the jacket.
Edward Heerema, President and CEO of Allseas, said: “The pioneer spirit has taken its own name in recent years as a record-breaking lift for the oil and gas industry. The successful installation of the Alpha upper shows our added value in container versatility and energy transitions. “
Sami Iskander, CEO of Petrofac Group, said: Everyone involved should be proud of this achievement. Petrofac has a successful track record in offshore wind power for over a decade. This reflects the ability of the engineer and the quality of delivery. We are working closely with our partners on providing the beta topside and successful grid connectivity. “
Beta topside (also 700 MW capacity) is expected to continue in the first quarter of next year. When the wind farm area Hollande Kust (zuid), developed by the wind farm developer Vattenfall, will be fully operational in 2023, it will generate renewable energy equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 2 million households. .. Hollandse Kust (zuid) is the world’s first unsubsidized wind farm.
