House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 6: A Major Dragon Twist and a Surprising Kiss

In the latest episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 6, viewers were in for a dramatic twist that reshaped the story. The final ten minutes were packed with unexpected developments, including new dragon reveals and a surprising kiss.

The episode opens with Rhaenyra Targaryen putting her plan into action to call forth dragonseeds to claim the dragons at Dragonmont. However, the dragons are not as cooperative as she hoped. Seasmoke, previously unclaimed, incinerates Ser Steffon Darklyn, a dragonseed, in front of Rhaenyra and her son, Jacaerys, causing her to question her strategy.

In Harrenhal, Daemon Targaryen, plagued by unsettling nightmares, decides to leave the cursed castle. He confides in Alyss, the witch, about feeling poisoned in both body and mind. She advises him to stay for three more days to see if the situation improves, and Daemon agrees.

Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Alicent Hightower faces more humiliation as her son, Aemond Targaryen, now the king regent, dismisses her from council meetings, asking her to focus on other duties. Her situation worsens when she encounters public outrage, leading to a dangerous escape after her guards are killed.

Rhaena Velaryon, Daemon and Laena’s daughter, discovers evidence of a new dragon while protecting Rhaenyra’s son. She finds signs of a large, dark dragon and a burnt sheep, suggesting the presence of a wild dragon, possibly Sheepstealer, who has been unclaimed for over 70 years. The episode leaves open the possibility that Rhaena might finally claim this dragon.

In a surprising turn, the episode concludes with a passionate kiss between Rhaenyra and her new advisor, Mysaria. Mysaria, an ex-mistress of Daemon, expresses her gratitude and personal trauma, leading to an intimate moment with Rhaenyra. Their connection grows intense before Rhaenyra abruptly leaves on Syrax after hearing about Seasmoke’s new rider.

Episode 6, despite its slow start, ended with major revelations: hints of new dragons and riders, and a glimpse into Rhaenyra’s bisexuality. With Daemon’s position in flux and Rhaenyra’s new relationship adding complexity, the season promises even more intrigue. Additionally, Seasmoke’s new rider is revealed to be Addam Velaryon, the illegitimate son of Lord Corlys Velaryon and Marilda Hull.
